Magnolia in Charcoal
H760mm x W950mm
The magnolia is such a graceful and beautiful flower. When the flower I have drawn first opened, it had a whiteness that was so pure and unsullied. As the magnolia faded, brown spots appeared and it was not long before the petals began to drop and the flower to die. The image needed to be recorded at speed, first in pencil and then in charcoal. Once the first subject had died, several more flowers were chosen to complete the drawing.
