Agapanthus

Agapanthus
238mm x 183 mm

This painting was executed on Kelmscott Vellum and replaced the papery Red Onion painting that had been intended for the exhibition "The McEwen Legacy: Artists Influenced by Rory McEwen" at Kew Gardens, 2013. I collected the subject matter from the banks of a road near where I live, just at the beginning of the Australian Spring. I think that because it was so very early in the flowering season, with the weather so cold, the flowers were unusually pale, and a beautiful soft blue. This work is now in the Shirley Sherwood Collection at Kew Gardens.
