Lemongrass
120mm x 460mm
When I placed the Lemon Grass on a flat surface to consider the painting's composition, the slender leaves seemed to have a drifting quality. This lead me to consider a landscape format for the composition rather than the more obvious portrait shape. I was attracted by the drifting nature of the leaves and as I examined the plant, I found a myriad of different colours in the greens as the leaves turned. It was a beautiful subject to paint.
