Tumeric
Tumeric
120mm x 120mm

The roots of the tumeric plant have the most extraordinary colours, from greys and blues in the light areas through to bright yellows and oranges where the roots are cut. Where breaks to the roots occur, they bleed a brilliant orange. The contrast between the outer skin and the flesh provides an interesting interplay for the painting. There is a deceit in the composition: Perspective is suggested as if the roots of the Tumeric have just been harvested and are lying on the ground.
