Macadamias
This painting was an exercise in observation. At first glance the subjects appear to be brown or a browny green. After careful analysis of colour, it became obvious that so many pigments were represented in the macadamia nuts and their seed pods. Brown changes colour in this instance when the light hits the surface, and becomes almost a pale purple or even a yellow of sorts, and the colours change again depending upon where each seed pod and nut is in their life cycle. These were good, strong and interesting choices for a painting subject. |
